Dinosaurs outside the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Midland Provincial Park, Drumheller Alberta

Drumheller, Alberta, just 135 km from Calgary, is in the heart of the Canadian Badlands and home to the world famous Royal Tyrrell Museum.

Located in Midland Provincial Park, and named after Joseph Tyrell who discovered the bones of Albertosaurus in 1884, the Royal Tyrrell Museum is Canada's only museum dedicated to the study of palaeontology with exhibits, collections and research.

There's a lot to do in the valley, and it's easy to find the downtown Drumheller Visitor Information Center - just look for 80 foot tall world's largest dinosaur.

Dinosaur Provincial Park, a 2 hour drive Southeast of Drumheller, was dedicated a United Nations World Heritage Site in 1979, and is home to over 35 species of dinosaur. Bring your hiking boots, and take one of the many trails through the park.

Just East of Drumheller of Highway 10 you will find the famous Hoodoo. A fascinating natural rock formation, the Hoodoos are formed by erosion, and are a must see for visitors to Drumheller, Alberta.
